The WANA Institute, Chatham House, EDAMA and the NRC are hosting a high-level meeting with stakeholders from different governmental entities on 27 June, 2018. The meeting is part of the Moving Energy Initiative, and will discuss how significant cost-saving methods for public and community buildings can generate funding to improve services and reduce social pressures in refugee hosting areas.
The meeting will focus on challenges, opportunities and ways to move forward with investing in solar energy and improving energy efficiency for community buildings such as schools, hospitals and houses of worship in Jordan. This process is in line with both the Jordan Response Plan and Jordan’s Economic Growth Plan.
The main objective of this meeting will be to review the potential for savings to be generated and reinvested. Participants will look at how obstacles can be overcome, and discuss sustainable financing opportunities and partnerships with the private sector.
