Within the programme “Towards the inclusive participation of vulnerable women and persons with disabilities in social and economic life”, the West Asia-North Africa Institute (WANA), in partnership with IM Swedish Development Partner held a virtual roundtable on 2 January 2021 to present findings and recommendations to local and international stakeholders as well as policy makers from the government, civil society and the donor community.
The aim of this event was to discuss the results and recommendations of the policy papers authored by 20 young trainees who passed a rigorous course to develop evidence-based analytical reports on pressing issues that they had identified as hindering the participation and inclusion of marginalised women and people with disabilities.
The papers prepared by the trainees with focus on Zarqa and Madaba governorates tackled the following topics:
• Early Intervention Procedures for Persons with Visual and Mild Mental Impairments in Zarqa.
• Public Transportation and its Impact on the Economic Participation of Women in Madaba Governorate.
• Improving the accessibility of public buildings and the physical environment.
• Pandemic and the Impact of Distance Learning Methods on Students with Visual and Auditory Disabilities: The Zarqa Governorate.
