Jordan stands at a pivotal crossroads as it seeks to overcome long-standing socio-economic challenges while laying the foundation for a more prosperous and inclusive future. With its Economic Modernisation Vision (2022–2033), the Kingdom has committed to a transformative roadmap aimed at accelerating sustainable economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for all citizens. However, the path toward implementation is unfolding amid a volatile regional and global environment marked by conflict, economic disruption, and climate uncertainty. The success of this vision depends on rigorous reflection, inclusive dialogue, and innovative policy thinking.
The WANA Institute, in partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), is launching a call for original research that examines Jordan's Economic Modernisation Vision (EMV)’s implementation from fresh angles—social, economic, environmental, and cultural—highlighting the obstacles, opportunities, and necessary reforms to ensure the vision delivers on its promise for Jordan’s future. We invite insightful submissions that delve into critical themes such as social justice and inclusion, green economy and sustainable agriculture, or the transformative potential of modern technologies like AI, among other pressing issues shaping Jordan’s path forward.
We welcome applications from researchers and professionals with demonstrated experience in socio-economic development, public policy, or related fields. We encourage emerging scholars and young professionals to apply.
To apply, please submit a 500-word abstract in English that includes a working title, research question, relevance to the Economic Modernisation Vision (EMV), proposed methodology, and expected outcomes. Abstracts must present original, unpublished work. In addition, applicants are required to submit a CV and, if available, samples of previous publications by July 20, 2025 to Layan Ounis (layan.ounis@kas.de) and Dr. Yara Shaban (info@wana.jo).
