CASCADES: Cascading Climate Risks Towards Adaptive and Resilient European Societies

CASCASDES is a project that builds on the system of exploring climate risks with cross-sectoral impact characteristics without consideration to geographical or political boundaries. Through understanding the impacts of climate change on different social and economic sectors, trade, investment, sustainable development and security in the European Neighbourhood with an aim to improve inter-regional cooperation. Resulting in future scenarios for suitable resilience and adaption options to development, security and adaptation challenges particularly those relating to food, water and energy under changing climate in the WANA region. Moreover, these scenarios will develop plausible risk cascades showing how certain areas might be affected with climate change impacts. They will feed into strategic recommendations for decision-makers and stakeholders in the EU and the WANA region, as well as into various outputs for wider dissemination and awareness raising.

This report assesses the current situation and future projections of possible and likely biophysical climate impacts in the MENA region, based on a literature review, news articles and CASCADES climate impact data analysis.
