Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Jordan Office and West Asia-North Africa Institute (WANA) launched a joint project entitled: “Jordan-EU Dialogue on Human Security Issues.” The project seeks to engage with 5-8 young Jordanian experts and professionals from diverse backgrounds to produce public policy papers and present to Jordanian and international stakeholders including government representative and possible EU representatives.
The aim of the project is to raise awareness on the issues of importance and priority that Jordan should address in 2020, from a non-governmental perspective, cementing the culture of informing and enhancing exchange of knowledge that is able to influence public policies in Jordan and how to enhance the dialogue between the European Union and Jordan on security and human security.
KAS and WANA will jointly hold an expert roundtable in Amman in whereby the young professionals will present their papers before policy makers, after having received a specialised training on research and policy-papers writing by the WANA Institute. The policy papers will then be complied, edited and published in a joint KAS-WANA publication.
The project shall contribute to the knowledge created around Jordan-EU relations from a grassroot/civil society perspective. It hopes to challenge the culture of public policy-making in Jordan by allowing more non-governmental actors to offer their input into this process, and by building the capacity of young to mid-career researchers and professionals by training them on how to draft policy papers, and work closely with them to identify potential channels for communicating and advocating their insights.
The project invites 5-8 young Jordanian scholars, experts, and professionals from diverse backgrounds. Ideal candidates should have some previous research experience and are well-informed on issues of relevance to Jordan-EU relations and Human Security.
The idea behind this project is simple: inform public policies in Jordan by offering the input of non-governmental professionals and stakeholders. By doing so, the project seeks to achieve the goal of addressing the public policy-making gaps in Jordan and enhance Jordan-EU dialogue by devising policy recommendations and solutions to issues of relevance to the “Jordan-EU Dialogue on Human Security Issues” framework.
Interested candidates are requested to send in a completed application form along with a CV (three pages maximum) and a letter of intent. The letter should state the candidate’s interest in the project and their initial topic, and grant a space for the candidate to tell us about themselves.
Papers will be written in English, with limited exceptions for Arabic papers granted in special circumstances.
Kindly direct your application and/or any inquiries to Barik Mhadeen, Senior Researcher and Project Manager at barik.mhadeen@wana.jo
