International Conference: Youth Volunteering and Dialogue, Preventing Violent Extremism and Strengthening Social Inclusion

Human Security researcher Nadine Sayegh will participate in the second International Conference on “Youth Volunteering and Dialogue, Preventing Violent Extremism and Strengthening Social Inclusion” at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris from 25 to 27 September.

Over 100 young volunteers from across the world will gather to participate in this three-day event. They will share experiences on key emerging issues such as:

  • Refugees welcome here? Youth spearheading social inclusion.
  • Learning to live together: The importance of intercultural education.
  • Shifting media discourse: The role of the media and social media in constructing positive dialogue.
  • Art changes everything: Youth engagement with cultural heritage.

Nadine will participate in the workshop on Youth Engagement in Media and will discuss how to construct positive dialogue through social media. She has also been appointed rapporteur and will be producing a brief report at the end of the session.

The participants will be invited to elaborate action plans to foster the vital values of solidarity and empathy as well as critical thinking, social engagement and meaningful civic participation.
