World Science Forum 2017

For the first time in history, the World Science Forum will be held in Jordan. The event will take place from 7 - 11 November under the theme ‘Science for Peace’, and will bring together 3,000 of the world’s leading scientists, academics, decision makers and investors to redefine the global potential of scientific communities and policymakers to bring real change to our interlinked societies.

Topics of discussion include Energy and Water, Food, Climate Change, the Alleviation of Poverty and Inequality, Cultural Understanding Between Peoples and the Creation of Wealth and Opportunity Within All Societies. Displays and exhibitions will highlight and showcase the work of Jordanian scientists, engineers, and researchers.

The WANA Institute is delighted to take part. Dr Neven Bondokji, Team Leader and Senior Researcher CVE, will be speaking in a session cohosted by the WANA Institute and the Centre for Democracy & Peace Building on Emerging Concerns in Managing Radicalisation among Youth.

Dr Erica Harper and Dr Michael Gilmont will be taking part in another thematic session under the title Science for Cultural Relations – Past, Present and Future hosted by the Britisch Council. The session will use a combination of talks by speakers and discussion in small groups to explore the past, present and future of science as a means to establish long-term relationships, built on mutual trust and respect.
