Consultation Workshop: Achieving Water and Food Security in Jordan

On 14 November 2017, the WANA Institute and the University of Oxford are conducting a consultation workshop on “Achieving Water and Food Security” as a follow-up to a recently published study. The research paper articulates potential improvements in agricultural water productivity levels in Jordan, and examines the political and economic pathways towards improving socio-economic and environmental outputs.
 
Following the publication, the researchers conducted policy interviews to explore the applicability of the suggested solutions, and found that a number of recommendations are constrained by social and cultural challenges. The consultation workshop will help identify the social and political barriers regarding the water and agricultural sector in Jordan. It will also reflect on what type of projects are needed in the future to overcome these barriers and achieve water and food security.
