The West Asia and North Africa (WANA) Institute and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Jordan are hosting an end-of-project conference to share Taiwan’s environmental excellence. The project “Contribute to Encouraging Knowledge and Technology Transfer and Adoption between Jordan and Taiwan” aims to contribute to transferring successful environmental protection experiences from Taiwan to Jordan as well as disseminating environmental initiatives implemented by the Taiwanese government in Jordan.
Jordan is facing several environmental challenges that require immediate attention such as waste management, agriculture sustainability and water management. Given that Taiwan and Jordan share similarities in their environmental context, this project investigated and learned the environmental knowledge, behaviour and success stories accomplished by the Taiwanese government in Taiwan with a purpose to promote these potential successes to policy-makers and programmers in Jordan. Moreover, the project explored the environmental initiatives implemented in Jordan for a greater impact within the Jordanian community.
The volume of Taiwan’s two-way trade with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has been an ongoing partnership for several years. Taiwan is one of the leading countries when it comes to environmental protection and sustainability, where Taiwan’s dedication to environmental protection is a result of their commitment to maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment while becoming one of Asia’s richest economies. Recently, Taiwan has achieved one of the highest recycling rates in the world with US$2 billion in annual revenues.
