The West – Asia North Africa Institute Joins the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Solutions Network

The WANA Institute is delighted to announce that we have just been accepted into the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). The SDSN is a global initiative for the United Nations that is dedicated to finding sustainable solutions to the biggest environmental challenges facing the global community.

Ban-Ki Moon, the UN Secretary General, launched the SDSN in 2012 in order to mobilise global scientific and technological expertise to promote practical problem solving for issues facing the sustainable development field. This included the creation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which have now been adopted by the UN. Following this adoption, the SDSN is committed to supporting the implementation of the SDGs on local, national, and global scales.

Through joining the SDSN, the WANA Institute hopes to contribute to this process. The organization and governance of the SDSN aims to enable a large number of leaders from all regions and diverse backgrounds to participate in the development of the network, while at the same time ensuring effective structures for decision-making and accountability.
