The WANA Institute is pleased to announce that it will be awarded a significant grant for a research project titled "Towards more effective human security approaches in the context of the emerging threat of violent radicalisation in Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia”. The grant will be awarded by the NWO (the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research) and the WANA Institute will lead the project, in partnership with the Hague Institute for Global Justice, the Arab Institute for Security Studies, Mercy Corps Jordan and the UNHCR regional office. The project will see researchers collaborate to explore how the changed threat environment has impacted upon human security programming in the region, with a specific focus on political inclusion, institutional functionality, water and resources, education and employment, women’s empowerment and social justice. The research will contribute to the development of a policy tool specific to the WANA region. The Human Security team at the WANA Institute are thrilled to have won the grant and are looking forward to undertaking this very interesting, and timely, research.
